I am now back in Malaysia after 2 days short of 2 weeks in Shanghai. It’s a nice place, I suppose, but I don’t think it’s my choice of a city to live in. Why? Mostly because of communication, food and the bad air quality.

It’s difficult to get around if you don’t speak Mandarin. Getting ‘halal’ food is a challenge and to be honest, they don’t taste very good. We use a lot of spices in our food in Malaysia, so I found the food in Shanghai a bit bland. As for air quality, well.. at least it’s not as bad as in Beijing.

No offense to the Shanghainese, of course.

Maglev Shanghai TrainAnyway, the flight from Shanghai to Kuala Lumpur was on Friday afternoon, 27/06/2008. Two of us decided to take the bullet train Maglev to the airport. Man, it was fast! Took us only 7 minutes to get there. Top speed? 430 km/h. Cool eh?

Take off was scheduled at 3:30 pm but at 3:20 everybody was still queuing in front of the gate. The flight was delayed about half an hour, I think. Could be because of the weather. It was raining and a little bit foggy. Not that I was complaining, mind you. Getting back one day early was already a bonus, no matter what time the airplane left Shanghai soil. hahaha

The flight was uneventful. The food sucks, though. Malaysia Airlines definitely have to do something about the food served in economy class. Malaysian Hospitality indeed! Send the passengers to the hospital is more like it.

We touched down at KLIA around 9:15 pm. Honestly, it felt really good to be back in Malaysia. And the very first thing I did? Enjoy the food, of course Love
