From 14 students, it is now down to 5: Stacie, Nadia, Nubhan, Riz and Toi… all aspiring to be the “Juara Akademi Fantasia Musim Ke-6″. With the final concert just around the corner and only a week to prepare, I’m sure these kids are under extreme pressure to give their best so that they will get the highest votes.

Let’s have a quick reality check first, though, shall we?

People call them reality shows. And to a degree, yes, I agree with them. However, I personally think popularity shows are more accurate. Let’s face it.. the more popular a contestant is, the more votes he or she will receive. That’s the reality part, no?

So.. based on popularity, I would say it’s more or less an even fight between Stacie, Nadia and Riz. Looking at talents, however, it’s very much obvious that Stacie is well ahead of the rest. Toi is negligible. Nubhan is mediocre despite his nice tone. Nadia is not bad. Riz is good. But Stacie is definitely the most talented. And I really hope she will win.

Note that, while I do want Stacie to win, I am NOT going to waste my money voting for her.

So who will actually win? That depends on the voters, of course. People would vote for the person they like most, regardless whether that person really deserves to win or not. Bob from Akademi Fantasia 2 is a good example. Very talented, but because of his lack of “package”, he did not win.

It’s sad, really. But then that’s the reality of a popularity show like this. Don’t you agree?
