Personally, it’s just too much of the same thing. From Season 1 to Season 5, we see the same routine, the same style, the same of everything. Never mind the changes they tried to inject into the program. It’s just… boring.

For Season 6, Astro made a change by increasing the age limit to 45. I suppose it was a good thing since there are hopeful singers with high potential out there who are past 30. From the thousands who auditioned, however, only 14 were selected to be the students of the academy. 11 were youngsters between the age of 18 and 25, two 31 and 32-year-olds, and one a 44-year-old grandmother.

After a week of vocal classes, dance training, singing techniques etc etc, Saturday night, 22/03/2008, saw the first challenge for these students: the very first of the weekly concerts. More of the same things, I expect. The noticeable differences were the new host (AC Mizal, replacing Aznil), the cut-short songs (much like American Idol), the now “brutal” comments from the critics and the badly done surprises or “kezutan”. AC Mizal definitely needs to learn the tricks of the trade from Aznil.

As for the students, it was obvious that the majority of them still have a lot to learn. Let’s just hope that the good ones will remain till the final.

As for me, I will watch the concerts whenever I can but I will definitely NOT going to waste my money voting.
