I had problems accessing my blog yesterday afternoon. Everytime I tried to view my page, I kept getting directed to a “parking” page. That hit my panic button a bit. Having no one else in mind at that particular time, I sent an SOS email to Patrick from PiggyBankPie.com. (Thanks, Pat. You’re such a great guy.)

I checked with the company where I bought my domain name from and also the hosting company. Everything seemed to be in working order. Not satisfied, I then submitted a ticket to the Technical Support from the hosting company. Here’s the reply:

Sigh. I felt tired all of a sudden.

To their credits, they managed to get everything back in order around 9 am this morning, roughly 18 hours after I realised it happened. This is the notification email I received:

Hi,
.
Thanks for waiting.
.
Refer to the recent incident where our Server Primary Hard Disk is damage and corrupted that cause the server unable to be booted as mentioned in our Latest News section at https://support.internet-webhosting.com/index.php?_m=news&_a=viewnews&newsid=34

We glad to inform you that the server is now back online. FYI, Our engineer that has been working until this morning since yesterday night managed to restore and copied 200GB worth of data to the new hard disk after installing the new O/S and Cpanel configuration to the new disk.
.
We are sorry for the downtime and any incovenience cause. We hope to gain the understanding as the incident is really unpredictable.

So my blog is now back online. Understandably, the whole incident was an accident and there was not much they can do about it, but it was still annoying to the extreme. My next step… look for a new hosting company. Hah!
