Symptoms: Inflamed tendons along the thumb and side of the wrist, surrounding tissue filled with fluid.
Cause: Sending too many text messages (sms) on the mobile phone. ![]()
It’s true. I couldn’t help laughing when I read the article featured in The Sun last Monday, 24/12/2007. It’s also known as the “text-messager’s thumb”, reported in the New Zealand Medical Journal, and so far has “infected” 3 youngsters in New Zealand, Australia and Singapore respectively. God knows how many unreported cases are out there.
So… if you are an avid sms-er, you would want to be extra careful. Cut short your sms sending per day. Call up more people instead. Or something along those lines.
Oh, hang on. I think I’m in the high risk group.
I sent more sms than I did calling people. FYI, my previous month’s call charges was RM 25.86 and my sms/mms charges was RM 62.80. ![]()
Have to be careful then. Don’t want to be “infected” with this Texting Tenosynovitis, now, do we?
