This might have come a bit late but I might as well get it out of the way since I have wanted to write something about Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza’s latest album since its launch on December 10, 2007. Particularly since I got the album for free, all thanks to Nouri, during the Urban Spikerz Annual Dinner 2007.
Frankly speaking, I am not much of a fan of Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza. I like her songs (the good ones only, mind you) but I honestly don’t see myself as a member of the fan club. Not by choice, at any rate. Without doubt, however, she is one of the best singers ever born in Malaysia. Maybe the world too, for that matter.
I had high expectations when her latest album, “Hadiah Daripada Hati” (Gift from the Heart), was released. I put her at the highest level when it comes to quality of songs, but when I listened to her album, I was severely disappointed. It’s just not… Siti Nurhaliza, if you know what I mean.
Out of 11 songs, I only like 3 of them. I admit that I am not the best person to make judgement on a song, but anybody who is not tone deaf would be able to tell whether a song is good to listen to or not, don’t you agree?
The 3 songs are:
I almost like 4 other songs but it would take some pushing to add them in the above list:
- Music Arrangement: Aubrey Suwito
- Music Arrangement: Aubrey Suwito
If this is a gift from the heart, then the only thing I can say is that the album does not seem to be a very sincere gift. One would expect something better, something grand from a grand personage like Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza. She’s the idol of millions; surely she can do better than this? ![]()
Out of 5, I give her a 2.
p/s… The outfit she wore during the launch (pic above) was really a disaster, designed by Rizman Ruzaini (2 guys). Such crap! ![]()

I would not want to comment on the new songs particularly since I do not own her album and I am also not one of her fans but I must say, she is one of the best Malaysian singers I have ever known throughout my entire life. However, one thing for sure, her outfit sucks!!! I expected better from her…

Gossips aside, there should not be any impact to the quality of her songs. Professionalism, if nothing else.
And a happy new year to you too

pelik korg kata lagu die x best. aku rasa album baru dia ni jauh lebih baik dari transkripsi. n sebab transkripsi menang album terbaik (aku tatau mcm mana bleh menang), album hadiah daripada hati mesti bleh menang lg.
baju die sux. i agree.

@syammu-san: I think it’s a matter of personal taste, most of all. I agree, some people would say the album is good. Some would not. For me, it’s just not good enough.
Farah Asyikin is one of last year’s contestants for One In A Million and Malaysian Idol. She is good, trust me. She has a couple of singles currently playing on the radio. And I’m still waiting for her album to come out.
Karennnnn!!!! Mana nyer album dia ni?? Cepat laaaa…. hehehehe…

i’ve been her fan since forever…
when i 1st got her new album and did my first scan-thru…i was kinda disappointed jugaK…after my 2nd scan i started to notice some songs…and ur music player really plays a part. on this ‘#$!!’ comp monitor speaker, everything sounded crappy. When i swictched to a good full-blast sound system…her songs sounded good. Currently…i have a few tracks that i keep listening too.
Most importantly is that i like to hear her voice…its creamy. And the innocence in it, when she doesn’t play her big diva voice.
But haven’t u notice, she’s got the knack of singing out of ordinary tunes? Siti always have a few songs that is like that.
Anyways, Have a MiracuLouS 2008!

Yes, I totally agree with you about the quality of Siti’s voice. She definitely can make ordinary songs to sound really really great. That is why I love listening to her even though I’m not her fan. Tapi album ni.. takes a while to get into. Kena dengar banyak kali baru ok.
My first list kat atas tu is based on first listening. Second list, lepas dengar 2,3 kali. Yang lain memang tak boleh masuk. Bukan la nak kata album ni totally tak bagus.. It’s just that it’s way below my expectations. Ikut personal taste la jugak kan
Whatever it is, Siti is still the best. And you have a great year too

yus, i agree with u.. de outfit is a disaster.. maybe dat was their initial intention.. hehe..
i am not her fan.. never have & never will be.. nothing personal.. i just never liked her ever since she participated in 1 of de rtm talent search programmes.. (see, i can’t even remember which one..).. i just don’t like her type of voice.. soothing & melodious may be favorites to others but i find it stereotype & common.. many young singers have similar type of voice.. sometimes, siti’s voice even sound squeeky.. hehe..
but i can’t deny dat some of her songs are great.. thanx to the composers! & i luv Ku Mahu.. makes u wanna dance! huhu..
and.. farah asyikin is de one to watch out for from now on!

She is the only malay singer that I’m listening to besides Sheila Majid. I think her latest album is great. Kindda easy listening. The first time I’ve listened to HDH, my thought goes to Barbra Streisand’s album. I imagined its very difficult to become Siti Nurhaliza. Sometimes people hate her for nothing. But alas, that’s life. Love her or hate her, she is a survivor indeed.
